State Library of SA – Little Library Children’s Experience

Chappell Builders is proud to have delivered the Little Library Children’s Experience at the State Library of South Australia, creating a vibrant, engaging and imaginative destination designed specifically for children aged 0-11 years.

More than a traditional library space, Little Library has been thoughtfully designed to inspire curiosity, creativity and connection through reading, play and discovery. Guided by the Words Grow Minds research into early childhood development, the space encourages children and families to explore stories, learning and imagination in an environment where every visit offers something new to discover.

The fit-out combines contemporary design, interactive technology and traditional media to create an inviting and inclusive experience. Children can browse and borrow from a carefully curated collection of books, enjoy storytelling and music activities, explore play-based learning opportunities, or simply find a quiet corner to immerse themselves in their favourite story.

Featuring bespoke interactive elements, engaging play spaces and welcoming family-focused environments, the completed project reimagines what a library can be for young people today! The result is a dynamic-destination that supports lifelong learning, fosters early literacy and ensures the State Library remains accessible, relevant, and inspiring for future generations.
